So, one day over the coffee pot we came up with an idea... To make a cross Tele/Strat with some parts we had around the shop. It actually all came together when our good mate, Byron Kennedy, brought in a Fender licensed All Parts neck. We had a Dr Parts Tele body and we put the neck in the neck pocket and we all had the same idea at the same time... it was meant to be! Let's build a half Strat, half Tele monster. After a good scratch in our cabinet we had the pickups (Thanks Meron for the Dimarzio Bridge pickup) and other bits and bobs. This has become a bit of a 'all hands on deck build', and many people are giving their time and expertise to the build. Neville Scott has given his time and great wood working skills to help with the routing of the pickup cavity, bridge alignment etc... Thanks! Next was the cutting and shaping of the scratch plate. We used a three ply from an American strat.. A dremel and a steady hand was needed, only one cup of coffee was consumed before the procedure... We are waiting for some Fender Machine heads and are about to start the wiring. We are going to have the traditional Strat volume knob and the Tele Knobs handling the tone, but we are going to have a push-pull on them, one for the coil tap on the bridge pickup and one to switch to the Tele sound (bridge and neck). We will keep you posted with the progress and if anybody has any comments please feel free to speak your mind... Cheers! Machine heads arrived! Olly starts the complex wiring of the guitar.
